I got my April letter dated 16th of June... but no top-up either. I also got a call from Metro telling me they'd reviewed my March claim and had told me I'd submitted it too late "in error"... and hence were going to pay it.

Got the top-up on myki from Metro.
Metro called to see if I've got the top-up and was told that for the March compensation is 2 daily equivalent and April is only 1 daily. I must say the fact that I've got comensated and the money was top-up, I can't complain.

How do you actually go about applying for compensation from Metro? Do you have to write a letteR?

Go to the Metrotrain website and click on the Monthly Performance section to download a PDF compensation form. Fill in the details and post it. Wait for couple of months or more, your compensation will come.

Why exactly does it take "a couple of months" to deal with compensation for them being LATE?

Please explain

I asked that question few months ago. I gave it a bit of a thought and some observation.
And I dont have to answer.

Forms are downloaded from the Metro Train web site.
You have to fill it in by hand.
You have to put the form in envolope.
You have to physically post it.
...
The post office has to physically deliver it to Metro.
The person has to physically open the letter and read it .... (what ever process they are using)

So on and so forth.

The whole process is paper based.
It's done manually.
Then they may have to manually enter the information into a computer.

Which brings me to question, why can't they process compensations electronically?

Good question - is she still the myki spin doctor? We heard a lot from her for the first few weeks - as we should given they are probably paying her a few hundred thousand dollars a year to say that nyki is wonderful - but where has she gone since? Did she quit or is laying low because the government are trying to forget about myki?

The real compensation question? How much compensation is Kamco going to pay the government for damage to the MYKI brand?

The MYKI brand has cost the taxpayer heaps to develop, only to have Kamco progressively destroy any value. The government is the taxpayer's representative and should be suing Kamco for damage to the brand.

I was wondering how long it going to take for Metro to process the 27 July 2010 Compensation? Not sure how many people would claim the compensation. I am still waiting for the claim I put through for May. They can easily say that they have not received my claim that it may possibility that it was got lost in Australia Post. And Ausstralia Post may claim that the bag that carried the claims on a Metro train that broke down and the claim could not be delivered on time. You blame me, I blame you.
